Boston Scientific surgical mesh products used in POP repair, including Pinnacle and Uphold lines, have been consolidated in Massachusetts. C.R. Bard Lawsuits involving the Avaulta surgical mesh transvaginal mesh products have been consolidated in a federal multidistrict litigation. A motion has been filed to include other Bard vaginal mesh implants Pelvisoft, Pelvitex, Pelvicol and Uretex. Another lawsuit involving C.R. The FDA Has Warned Doctors And Patients Of Serious Complications Linked To Transvaginal Mesh, Vaginal Mesh, Prolapse Mesh, Pelvic Mesh, Surgical Mesh.

In 2011, the FDA issued a public notice in 2011 to doctors and Transvaginal, Vaginal Mesh patients after 2,875 injuries relating to the surgical mesh were reported between 2008 and 2010. The most common side effect reported to the FDA is vaginal mesh erosion, a painful and potentially serious complication due to the mesh that can cause the skin to split. Other complications include perforation of organs, vaginal drainage and bleeding, scarring, and pain and discomfort. Other side effects include infection and recurrence of pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence, which these Transvaginal – Vaginal meshes were implanted to fix.

The potentially dangerous side effects became apparent in 2009 when a clinical trial was stopped prematurely after 15 % of the women implanted with the mesh suffered vaginal mesh erosion within a period of only three months.

  • Boston Scientific: Pinnacle and Uphold Prolapse Meshes

  • Johnson & Johnson/Ethicon: Gynecare, Gynemesh, Gynecare Prolift, Gynecare Prolift+M and Gynecare Prosima
